Description

Original vintage Auto Meter 10,000 RPM tachometer, manufactured by Auto Meter Products Inc. in Elgin, Illinois, USA. This is an early first-generation Auto Meter unit widely used in late-1960s and early-1970s hot rods, drag cars, and street machines. Features the classic early “AUTO _ METER” script, the heavy chrome steel mounting cup, glass lens, and the original red pointer. These early versions are getting increasingly hard to find, especially in intact, unmodified condition. The tach shows honest age and patina: chrome cup has wear, lens has cracking (common with early Auto Meter), and the wiring tail will need refreshing. The tach has not been tested, so it is being sold as-is. Excellent candidate for restoration or display on a period-correct build.
