By 1910 - Elgin had built an observatory to help with the accuracy of their timepieces. Like most watch manufacturers, Elgin moved to defense production during the second World War and produced military issue watches such as the well known Elgin A-11. After the war, production of Elgin watches slowed and they transferred production to South Carolina. As the influx of Swiss watches came into the market, the Elgin brand sold its entities in 1968, and the name rights of the company were subsequently re-sold in the following years. Although the Elgin National Watch Company no longer exists, their impact on American watch making is seen through their large catalog of excellent vintage watches. 1. Top Notch seller! I purchased a couple watches from the seller and every time it's a great experience. This time around the Postal Service decided to send my watch the long way it went through six states I believe before it got to California and it took probably about twice as long as it should have but I did receive it and it is perfect. Any other kind of packaging and it probably wouldn't have made it. This seller was very helpful throughout the whole process. Thank you so much!

  2. The watch shipped quickly and with good packaging. This 60's Gruen is a pictured and as described. Overall the internal condition is what was important for me as it is being used as a donor. In that regard it seems to be in fairly good shape. The price just for the complete Gruen case and vintage acrylic crystal justifies this purchase. If they clean up, a spare set of hands is never a bad thing. Parts Preserve is an excellent seller that hasn't disapointed me.

  3. Seller shipped quickly. Well packaged. Better shape than described, super happy with the purchase. USPS dropped the ball and lost the package for a bit. The seller responded promptly when I reached out to them, even though it wasn't their problem. They were willing to help as they could and when/if they could with USPS. Fortunately, it did not cone to that. Very happy with this seller!
