RARE VINTAGE MID-CENTURY BLACK DONKEY WITH MONEY BAG SHAKERS This highly collectible and fun ceramic set is a fantastic piece of mid-century novelty decor (Kitsch) likely produced in Japan for export in the 1950s or 1960s. The set features a charming, glossy black donkey/mule figure carrying two detachable money sacks that function as shakers. Key Features: Figurine: Glossy black donkey/burro with gold detailing on the collar and saddle, and pink inner ears/nostrils. It has a hole and hook on its back to hold the shakers. Shakers: The two small, black, sack-shaped shakers feature a red bow and a gold currency symbol : one has a Dollar Sign ($) and the other has a Pound Sterling sign (£) (or possibly a Peso/Franc symbol), adding an international element. These hang from the donkey's saddle. Style: Anthropomorphic, Kitsch, Novelty Kitchenware. Origin: Made in Japan (consistent with this style and era).
