Sold for 23 years, from 1974 to 1997, it was used as a monitor speaker by Swedish National Broadcasting Corporation and Finnish National Broadcasting Corporation. ◎The beryllium diaphragm is used for the mid- and high-frequency ranges. This diaphragm was successfully developed using Yamaha's proprietary technology, applying electron beam vacuum deposition and special alloy technology used in LSI manufacturing. Because it is manufactured in a high vacuum, it contains fewer compounds than diaphragms made from rolled sheet metal, achieving a high level of purity. ◎The low frequencies are equipped with a 30cm cone-type woofer, the JA-3058A. The diaphragm uses a corrugated cone paper developed through years of accumulated materials research. The edge is made of cloth double-coated with thermosetting resin and viscoelastic resin to suppress resonance, improving linearity with respect to the input signal. The magnetic circuit uses a 156mm diameter ferrite magnet, and the voice coil is edgewise wound with copper ribbon wire. ◎The mid frequencies are equipped with an 8.8cm dome-type woofer, the JA-0801. It uses a 68mm diameter beryllium diaphragm made using Yamaha's proprietary manufacturing process. The tangential edge is double-coated with viscoelastic and thermosetting resins, a result of research conducted during the development of soft dome speakers such as the NS-690. This ensures sufficient shape and centering without compromising the benefits of beryllium. The voice coil is a large 66mm diameter and edgewise wound with copper ribbon wire for increased efficiency. ◎The magnetic circuit employs a large 156mm diameter magnet, achieving a magnetic flux density of 16,000 gauss, improving transient characteristics. ◎The JA-0513 3.0cm dome tweeter is used for the high frequencies. The diaphragm is a lightweight 23mm diaphragm weighing less than 0.03g, taking advantage of the properties of beryllium material. The tangential edge is made of cloth and double-coated with viscoelastic and thermosetting resins to suppress unwanted resonance. The voice coil diameter is 23mm and is edgewise wound with aluminum wire directly connected to the beryllium diaphragm, resulting in a lightweight vibration system overall. ◎The woofer circuit uses 1.0φ formal wire and a large-diameter ferrite core bobbin, reducing DC resistance and improving input resistance. ◎The attenuators that set the levels of the midrange and tweeter use large, double-wound attenuators with excellent input resistance. ◎The enclosure is a fully sealed bookshelf-style enclosure with a four-sided black finish. The NS-1000M uses a 24mm front baffle, a 25mm rear panel, and 20mm particle board for the side, top, and bottom panels. Furthermore, a 24mm thick piece of plywood is placed over the rear panel above the woofer mounting holes to provide strong reinforcement, providing appropriate reinforcement in all areas.
