✝️ 1696 Crasset Considerations Chretiennes Jesuit Leather Tome I. A Lyon, chez Claude de la Roche, 1696. An appealing original 1696 Lyon devotional for collectors of Jesuit printing, French religious books, and small-format 17th-century leather bindings. The binding shows honest age and use: boards rubbed and scuffed, corners worn, joints and spine ends rubbed, and the leather with age crackling. Description Jean Crasset, Considerations chretiennes pour tous les jours de l'annee, avec les Evangiles de tous les dimanches. Tome premier. Nouvelle edition revue, corrigee, augmentee & mise en meilleur ordre. A Lyon, chez Claude de la Roche, 1696. A handsome small-format late 17th-century French Jesuit devotional printed at Lyon. This work offers daily Christian meditations arranged through the church year together with the Sunday Gospels. This listing is for Tome premier only, not a complete multi-volume set. Bound in contemporary full leather, 6 x 4 x 1.5 inches, with an attractively gilt-decorated spine and remains of the original spine lettering. The binding shows honest age and use: boards rubbed and scuffed, corners worn, joints and spine ends rubbed, and the leather with age crackling. The book still presents well on the shelf and retains strong period character. Internally, the volume includes its title page with decorative engraved device, early blank leaves with old ink ownership/signature marks, and rear privilege/permissions leaves visible in the photos. The upper corner of the title page is creased, and there is expected age toning and light handling wear throughout. I have not fully collated the volume, but it appears substantial and retains its rear terminal matter.
