You are bidding on a 4-volume Folio Society set entitled EMPIRES OF THE ANCIENT NEAR EAST in a slipcover. It includes hardcover editions of The Babylonians by H.W.F. Saggs, The Egyptians by Alan Gardiner, The Hittites by O.R. Gurney, and The Persians by J.M. Cook. I don't think the books have ever been read (I noticed some illustration pages in The Persians that are uncut), but the slipcover has some wear, particularly on one side and the back (see pics). This is a very high-quality set which would be appreciated by anyone with an interest in ancient near eastern history. Each volume measures about 10" by 7", with varying page counts; altogether, the set is about 6½" wide.
