Description

Description I have this spectacular Rodney Leftwich Pottery Reticulate (incised/cut out) Vase up for sale! Rodney Leftwich is a well-known North Carolina Potter. He began his Pottery work in the 1970’s. This great vase was done by cutting out and around and between the incised images to create this wonderful decorative vase. This is a one of a kind individually designed vase which required many hours of intricate cutting, incising and glazing. This particular vase has the cut out of 2 cabins, where there is a lady milking a cow, another feeding chickens, while 2 men are in a wagon being pulled by an Ox rode by another man. The dog is running close by in this wonderful setting in a forest of trees. It is truly an amazing work of art! Rodney’s glazes are prepared from wood ashes, clay slips, crushed glass and iron rock as was done locally in the 1800s. His use of these natural materials results in creations with war earth tones. This vase was purchased directly from Rodney Leftwich. This vase measures approximately 9” tall x 6 ½” wide. It is in Mint, mint condition! It is signed Leftwich, 2013, Mills River, NC.
